Expect grey before clear
Water usually turns cloudy grey or milky blue partway through recovery. That's dead algae in suspension, and it's a good sign — it means the kill worked and the filter now has to do its half of the job.
Draining is almost never the answer
Emptying a pool in Florida introduces real structural risk from groundwater pressure, and algae is a chemistry and filtration problem rather than a reason to start over with new water. Treat draining as a last resort for extreme cases, not a shortcut.
